About the designer behind IC Green

I’m Imogen, a horticulturalist and garden designer working at the intersection of planting, microclimate and small-space functionality.

After shifting careers later in life, I have spent six years working directly in horticulture and landscaping, gaining practical insight into how plants behave in real conditions - heat, wind, sand, shade, and everything in between. In 2024, I established IC Green to bring that on-ground understanding into a design practice focused on clarity, resilience and place-specific planting.

My approach is shaped by formal study and a lifetime spent in natural landscapes - from northern hemisphere parks and forests to Australian bushland. These environments taught me how microclimates form, how plants adapt, and how thoughtful planting can transform the comfort and character of a space.

I specialise in gardens up to 100m², designing layouts and plantings that respond to Perth's climate while feeling calm, intentional and resolved.  My focus is on creating small gardens that work hard - supporting local ecology, improving daily life and continuing to strengthen over time.
